Schools and the community

Amey is committed to supporting the communities it operates in.

You can find out more about our aims here.

You can also see what we are doing for communities in Cambridgeshire in our 2017 Community Engagement Plan.

Every one of our employees is given a paid day each year to support an initiative of their choice – with over 21,000 employees across the UK, this is the equivalent of over 160,000 hours of community volunteering. In Cambridgeshire, our employees have used their community involve days to support a range of charities and groups, including garden restorations, clean ups, litter picks and building makeovers.

In partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council, we also deliver a dedicated service for schools and community groups. These groups can visit an on-site education centre at our Waterbeach Waste Management Park, or tour the site, and we also offer an outreach service, where we take recycling messages into the heart of the classroom.

You can also find out more on these pages about our free soil improver for Cambridgeshire residents and a grant fund which is available to organisations and groups within 10 miles of a landfill site in the county.
